True Blue Jazz series at Top of the Pines to start June 13
True Blue Jazz will kick off its summer series from from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, June 13, at the Top of the Pines, 56 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for drinks and dinner service.
This year’s series will continue the second Thursday of each month through September, featuring prominent jazz groups from around the Mid-Atlantic region.
The series starts with Wilmington/Philadelphia-based jazz pianist Jeff Knoettner and his group, the JazzJeff Quartet. A graduate of Boston’s esteemed Berklee School of Music, Knoettner has performed at festivals nationwide, including True Blue Jazz and the Clifford Brown Jazz Festival in Delaware. His bands have opened for Buddy Guy, B.B. King, BWB and Arturo Sandoval. For over 25, years, he’s been the pianist for The Cartoon Christmas Trio, whose holiday tunes pack the house in scores of venues. He is also a joyful music educator.
He will be joined by a great lineup of Delaware musicians: Rob Swanson on bass, Larry Marshall on drums and William Murray Jr. on saxophone.
