Unitarian Universalists to host online auction May 13-20
The Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware will host its 2023 UUSD Awesome Annual Auction starting at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 13, and continuing through 4 p.m., Saturday, May 20.
To peruse, bid, purchase and pay for items online, all are invited to go to fundraiser.bid/uusd.
Shoppers can pick up purchased items from 2 to 4 p.m., Monday, May 22, at the UUSD church, 30486 Lewes-Georgetown Highway, Lewes, where volunteers will bring purchased items to people in their vehicles. Some larger items include delivery, and other pickup arrangements can be made if needed.
An original ink portrait, "Priestley and 22 UUs" by local artist Rick Welk, will be the featured auction item. A longtime UUSD member, Welk said, "I was inspired by Ripley's Believe It or Not art pieces, which were done in black and white ink. My experience in texturing techniques helped me create this elegant original. The back of the portrait has a legend to identify each of the figures. The dimensions for this portrait are 18.5-by-23-inches, and it comes beautifully matted and framed. I am honored that UUSD is featuring my work in their auction this year."
