Ursula Heinz McHale, loved baking
Ursula Heinz McHale, 83, of Spotsylvania, Va., formerly of Harbeson, passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, in the presence of loved ones. Ursula, one of 10 children, was born in Bingen, Germany, to the late Katharina and Frederick Heinz.
Married to the late Arthur Paul McHale Sr. for 52 years, she raised seven children. As her children entered school, Ursula worked as a furniture store sales associate and later went back to her love of baking, working at Weinrich Bakery in Roslyn, Pa., before retiring to Harbeson in 1993. Ursula showcased her talent by making extravagant birthday cakes for her family, friends and neighbors for many years, and created wedding cakes for her married children. Everyone knew Ursula for her famous homemade bread and lasagna.
In addition to her parents and her loving husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Arthur P. McHale Jr. and Patrick M. McHale; five brothers, Frederick, Gerhart, Hans, Werner, and Gunther; and a sister, Hildegard Heinz.
Ursula is survived by five children, Daniel J. McHale of Pennsylvania, Elizabeth F. Leffler of Florida, Raymond R. McHale of Virginia, Susan C. Oman of Pennsylvania, and Brian J. McHale of California; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Marie McHale, Dorelotta Philips, and Fanny Heinz.
Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 5. Friends and family may call for a time of visitation at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
