Vincent Eugene Brewer, retired from Navy

Vincent Eugene Brewer, USN (LCDR, Ret.), 90, of Seminole, Fla., went to his eternal home on Friday, Feb. 21, 2020. Born to Samuel D. and Vincentia Brewer in Emmitsburg, Md., May 27, 1929, he is survived by his loving wife Arlene (Seminole), daughters Marcella “Marcie” Brewer (Indian Shores, Fla.) and Barbara Brewer (Lewes); son David Brewer (Woodbridge, Ill.), five granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Katherine “Sis” Ambrose (Gettysburg, Pa.), and Darlene McCleaf (Waynesboro, Pa.) and brother Robert “Bob” Brewer (Gettysburg). Brothers Clyde, Charlie and Louie predeceased him.

Vince will be remembered by those he touched through service to his country, church and community. In addition to being a 26-year meteorology veteran of the USN, he taught teen and adult Bible study in the United Methodist Church for over 40 years, worked in a Handyman Ministry, was active in Masonic Lodge events and was honored for his volunteer work in the school system for 10 years helping struggling elementary students improve their reading skills.

After many years traveling and living throughout the world, studying and developing improved hurricane and typhoon tracking mechanisms, he retired from the USN and began a second career as owner of a successful heating and air-conditioning business in central Florida (Altamonte Springs, Apopka and Clermont). In 2019, he and Arlene moved to Seminole.

Services will be held with military honors at Bay Pines National Cemetery (Bay Pines, Fla.)
