The War and Treaty to perform at Freeman Stage July 24

July 22, 2019

Riding the wave of a rousing two-minute standing ovation after their set at the North Seas Jazz festival in Rotterdam, the War and Treaty will bring that energy as the duo embarks on its 10-city HeartsTown tour kicking off at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 24, at the Freeman Stage at Bayside, Selbyville.

The War and Treaty, comprising powerhouse duo Michael and Tanya Trotter, is one of the most intriguing rising acts on the Americana and roots music scene. They’ve been compared to Ike and Tina Turner, and their passionate, vulnerable and unrestrained live performances leave audiences on their feet wanting more.

Funky bass lines, keys, lap steel, acoustic strings and stripped-down percussion create a swampy Southern soul bed for the couple’s transcendent vocals.
