Whayland Co. completes project at Kings Creek Country Club

December 10, 2019

Locally owned and operated Whayland Co. recently announced the completion of its latest project at Kings Creek Country Club in Rehoboth Beach.

This is the third collaboration between Whayland and Kings Creek in the last two years, and the second of 2019.

“We’ve always been extremely proud of our background and our reputation in serving the local community, both in Sussex County and across the state line in Maryland,” said Steve Hentschel, Whayland president. “We love being an integral part of this community. Helping to make it better for our residents and local businesses through construction projects is something everyone at Whayland takes to heart.”

The latest addition to Kings Creek is an expanded kitchen area, which includes storage and meeting room space and encompassing about 4,000 square feet.

The project followed the recent renovation of the club’s former kitchen, which is now being used as administrative offices. In the last two years, Whayland has also completed an outside bar area, and a new swimming pool and fitness center for the Rehoboth Beach Country Club.

“It’s these local partnerships that we really cherish, being able to start from scratch and eventually build up a solid working relationship over the course of a few years,” said Hentschel. “And Kings Creek is a perfect example of that. Two locally owned, locally operated companies working together in a mutually beneficial way.”

Working with local country clubs and residential developments has become a growing niche for Whayland over the last few years, now accounting for a good portion of new contracts for the local commercial construction company. Other recent projects have included clubhouse buildings at Coastal Club in Lewes and the Peninsula on the Indian River Bay in Long Neck.

Since opening its doors in 1950, the management and staff of the Whayland Co. have worked continuously to secure its reputation as a high-value, reasonably priced provider of construction and project management services on the Delmarva Peninsula. The company’s clients have long recognized the value of partnering with a firm that not only offers comprehensive services, but also tailors those services to the clients’ needs.
