William G. Hopkins Sr., Hudson Management retiree

William “Bill” G. Hopkins Sr., 89, of Milton, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Delaware Hospice.

Bill was born in Milton, son of the late George E. Hopkins Sr. and Ruth (Porter) Hopkins.

He grew up working on the family farm alongside his father, then enlisted in the U.S. Army as a PVT 2 serving during the Korean War.  Once he returned home, he married the love of his life, Thelma (Moore) Hopkins. Bill then started working for Joe Hudson at Hudson Management, where he retired after 54 years. He enjoyed working in his garden and cutting the grass when he wasn’t spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was a lifetime member of Coolspring Presbyterian Church. 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Thelma; his three siblings, George E. Hopkins Jr., Ruth Ann Wilson and Nancy Dickerson; and a grandson, Cody Hopkins.

He is survived by his son, William Hopkins Jr. (Lori); his daughter, Connie Heck (Mike); four grandchildren, Corey White (Matt), Caitlin Hopkins (Mike), and Payton and Hunter Heck; and three great-grandchildren, Beau, Jack and Allie.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 416 Federal St., Milton, where a time of visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 11, and from noon to 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 12. Interment will follow the service at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Milton. The family has requested casual attire for the services. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in William G. Hopkins Sr.'s memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
