William J. Casey Jr., active in his community
William J. Casey Jr., 78, of Millsboro passed away peacefully in his home Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020, after a long illness.
William was born in Camden, N.J., and raised in Cramer Hill, N.J. After graduating from Camden Catholic High School in 1961, he worked for GlaxoSmithKline Printing and Packaging Division for 25 years, retired and opened his own printing company, Alliance Printing LLC. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 09053, Elks Lodge 2514 and founding member of Sacred Heart University Tailgate Village.
Bill was very active in his community. He was a beloved bartender in his community clubhouse along with his buddy, Burt. He and his wife Mary Beth coordinated many events there as well. He also enjoyed cruising and trips to the casinos with friends.
Bill took great pride in his grandchildren and loved to be involved in their lives, whether he was driving to Connecticut for a football game or driving to Pace, Fla., for a graduation. Bill was one who loved to dance, and have a great time with his friends and family. He held the family championship in beer pong and always made St. Patrick’s Day and Christmas memorable.
Bill is predeceased by his parents, William J. Casey Sr. and Hazel (née Pine) Casey; his brother James; and sisters, Maryanne and Patricia Monagle.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Mary Elizabeth (née Curran); his sister, Kathleen of Sicklerville, N.J.; his brother Michael (Diane) of San Diego, Calif.; his children, William R. (Sonia) of Berlin, N.J., Theresa of Springfield, Mo., Deborah Meador (Wesley) of Cordele, Ga., David of Pace and Michele Hutson (Timothy) of Pace; his grandchildren, Sean Casey, Christopher Casey, Patrick Casey, Christen Jeckell (Kenneth), Zachary Casey, John Michael Casey, Connor Meador, David Casey (Kirsten), Lauren Casey, Cheyenne Casey and Casey Hutson; two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Ella; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a great husband, Dad, Pop, Pop Pop, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed.
His viewing was held Dec. 9, at the Constantino-Primo Funeral Home, Berlin, N.J. Mass of Christian Burial was held Dec. 10 at St. Mary’s Church, Gloucester City, N.J. Interment was held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro, Dec. 11.
