For more than 50 years, downtown Georgetown has played host to one of Sussex County’s best holiday traditions. Organized by the Greater Georgetown Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Town of Georgetown, the Annual Georgetown Christmas Parade will begin at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5. The theme for this year’s parade is a A Winter Wonderland.
Kevin Thompson, executive director for the Georgetown chamber, said, “This is one of my favorite events of the year – seeing the community come together to watch all the amazing floats, bands and marching groups.”
As usual, scores of floats, marching bands, classic cars, fire engines and much more will participate in the annual event, which culminates with the arrival of Santa Claus. For more information or an application to participate, go to www.georgetowncoc.com or call 302-856-1544.
