Zelky’s celebrates 40 years of family fun in Rehoboth Beach

April 6, 2025

For 40 years, Zelky’s has been a must-visit destination on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk, bringing families and friends together for classic arcade fun, big wins and great memories.

What started as a single arcade in 1985 has grown into three locations, a beloved pink elephant mascot and a community of loyal fans who return year after year.

Celebrating the 40th anniversary all year, Zelky’s is taking the fun to new heights with the launch of a brand-new rooftop mini golf course, giving visitors yet another way to enjoy the Rehoboth Beach skyline while making memories.

In 1985, when Chuck Weiner first opened Zelky’s North (originally called Dolle’s Arcade) he had one goal: to create a place where people of all ages could have fun. He transformed an old bathhouse and a bowling alley into a bright, welcoming arcade filled with the latest video games of the time, from Pac-Man to Donkey Kong. And he was one of the first in the country, and the first in Rehoboth Beach, to introduce ticket redemption games, filling the arcade with prizes that kept players coming back again and again.

Over the years, with Chuck’s son Matt joining the family business and helping carry the vision forward, Zelky’s expanded to include two locations on the Boardwalk and a third location at the Tanger Outlets Bayside.

"We’re so grateful for the generations of families who have made Zelky’s part of their summer traditions," said Matt. "This anniversary is about celebrating everything we love about the arcade and making it even better for the future."
