Food is at the heart of the McDougall Program--plentiful whole, plant-based, minimally processed colorful vegetables, starchy vegetables, beans, whole grains and small quantities of fruit.  Our bodies function best with resulting healthy weight when humans consume such a diet that eliminates animal-based foods and minimizes sugar, fat and salt.

Today Participants have gathered from all over the country for the next 10 days because they are sick, overweight, suffering from multiple chronic diseases, and are on medications with serious side effects. They want to learn from Dr. McDougall, his wife Mary and other luminaries about the connection between diet and disease and how to prepare satisfying food that nourishes and heals. Dr. McDougall has helped thousands of people all over the world reverse and heal their chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, arthritis, and some cancers through dietary change. His work is documented in his powerful books, the latest of which is THE STARCH SOLUTION. Readers can visit his website at drmcdougall.com.

The program is off to a running start with a sumptuous buffet this evening and blood work scheduled for tomorrow morning at 6:00 a.m. Time to rest up for a full day ahead!
