John 'Jack' Weyand Jr., computer expert

John "Jack" W. Weyand Jr., 77, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away at home Thursday, March 31, 2016. He was born Wednesday, Aug. 17, 1938, in Detroit, Mich., son of the late John W. Sr. and Jessie (Harris) Weyand.

In 1959, Mr. Weyand graduated from Widener University with his bachelor's degree in English and obtained his master's degree in 1981. In June of 1962 he married the love of his life, Barbara Lee Jefferis in Chester, Pa. Mr. Weyand spent 20 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a major. He also worked as a computer security manager for Northrop Grumman Corporation.

Mr. Weyand was a board member for the Villages of Old Landing where he maintained the community website. He was a huge Washington Redskins and Nationals fan as well. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Weyand is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara J. Weyand; his sons, David Weyand (Nyree) and James Weyand (Melissa); six grandchildren: Jacob, Abigail, Hannah, Brooke, Joshua and Isabella; his two brothers: Michael (Donna) and Patrick (Janet); and his niece, Traci.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, April 9, at 2 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnell Cancer Center, 18947 John J. WIlliams Highway, Suite 101, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
