Worcester Prep students' bread sale raises money for Atlantic General Hospital

April 19, 2016

Every year, second-grade students at Worcester Prep host a bread sale as part of a hands-on learning lesson combining English, science, social studies, mathematics and philanthropy.

The month-long project is modeled like a small business, in which the students actually make the bread and then set up a classroom café at the end of the lesson to sell bread to students and faculty.

The project involves researching ingredients, creating posters, oral reports and rotating jobs from busboy to cashier to learn all the facets of running a business. Proceeds are then donated to Atlantic General Hospital.
