Mary 'Liz' Elizabeth Marshall, retired administrator
Mary “Liz” Elizabeth Marshall, 83, of Bridgeville, passed away peacefully Monday, April 18, 2016, at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood. She was born in Cumberland, Md., Sunday, Nov. 27, 1932, daughter of the late George and Helen (Werkmeister) Erling.
Mrs. Marshall graduated from George Washington University with her master’s degree in education. She then started a dedicated 31-year career with the Prince Georges County Public School System. She held multiple positions including teaching night school and math and guidance counseling before retiring as an administrator in their Central area region.
Mrs. Marshall enjoyed attending various plays and musicals, crocheting, traveling, golfing and watching the Hallmark channel. She was an active member at Union Methodist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, and was known as a great cook to all those lucky enough to eat in her kitchen. Mrs. Marshall loved getting together with her family and friends. She was a hard worker who would always lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marshall was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Ering Linger, and her three half brothers, George, Hans and Fritz Werkmeister. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, George "Babe" Marshall; her brother, Alfred Erling and his wife Mary, of Great Falls, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 22, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws St., Bridgeville, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Friends may also call at the funeral home Thursday, April 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, April 23, at 11 a.m., at Saint James Parish Cemetery, 5757 Solomons Island Road, Lothian, Md.
