Charlotte Jane Wood, enjoyed homemaking
Charlotte Jane (Morris) Wood, 76, passed away Tuesday. April 19, 2016 at Genesis Milford Center in Milford, after a long illness.
Mrs. Wood was born to the late David W. and Eliza Jane Morris of Millsboro, March 11, 1940. She married Burton “Burtie” C. Wood Feb. 4, 1961. She enjoyed being a homemaker and lived most of her life in Sussex County. In 2014, she moved to Harrington to live with her daughter, Diane Taylor.
Mrs. Wood enjoyed gardening, especially growing flowers, reading, socializing and spending time with family and friends and reminiscing about the good old days. She was a loving mother and grandmother, a kindhearted and spirited individual, had a good sense of humor, and was hard-working and very strong-willed.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, Burton “Burtie” C. Wood, March 30, 2009; brothers: Leon Morris, Walter (Tommy) Morris, Willis (Billy) Morris, Earl Morris, Harvey Morris, Harry Morris, Sterling Morris and Clarence Morris; sisters: Bessie (Wright) Clark, Phyllis Harmon-Megee and Aileen Morris.
Mrs. Wood is survived by her daughter, Diane M. Taylor of Harrington; granddaughters, Amanda Naylor of Fredericksburg, Va., and Yvette Johnson of Herndon, Va.; six great-grandchildren, Dominque White, Christopher Charity, Mia Charity, Ebony Farmer, Tyrese Johnson, Paul Johnson; great-great granddaughter Leilani Farmer; and a brother, Edward S. Morris of Millsboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services Monday, April 25, at 7 p.m., at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, preceded by a viewing from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be private.
