Howard J. Hocker, retired state employee

Howard J. Hocker, 82, of Lewes, passed away at home Thursday, May 12, 2016. He was born Thursday, Oct. 19, 1933, in Lewes, son of the late Elwood Ulyssus Hocker and Frances Rose (Melinerich) Hocker.

Mr. Hocker served proudly in the Delaware National Guard and the U.S. Navy. He worked for the State of Delaware in the highway and roads department for many years. He was a history buff, specifically the Civil War era. He enjoyed listening to classical music and watching movies.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hocker was preceded in death by his sisters, Marion Marshall and Eleanor Joseph, both of Lewes. He is survived by his daughter, Chris Allen; his nieces, Bundy Simms, of Milton, Constance Miller of Lewes and Linda Fischer of Lewes; and one nephew, Thomas Marshall, of Milton.

Graveside Services were held Wednesday, May 25, at Bethel Methodist Cemetery.
