Milton is soliciting candidates for its upcoming town election in March 2017.
Two council seats, now held by Vice Mayor Esthelda “Stell” Parker-Selby and Councilman Emory West, are up for grabs in the Saturday, March 4, election. West said he has filed to keep his seat; Parker-Selby said she will not run for re-election.
“I'm running to keep continuing the work we've been doing – working for the people,” West said. West, a Milton native, has been a council member for six years, he said.
Milton's council seats carry a three-year term. Anyone interested in running must file by 5 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 3. For more information on how to file, go to milton.delaware.gov, call 302-684-4110 or stop by Town Hall at 115 Federal St.
Eligible residents can register to vote from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, through Thursday, Feb. 2, at Milton Town Hall. Town Hall will also open for voter registration from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Jan. 21, and Saturday, Jan. 28. Absentee ballots will be accepted until the polls close at 6 p.m., Saturday, March 4, only if an affidavit is submitted to Town Hall by noon Friday, March 3.
