Wendy Jean Chaffinch, active church member

Wendy Jean Chaffinch, 47, of Seaford, passed away at home Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017. She was born in Wilmington, Tuesday, July 22, 1969, daughter of the late Joseph and Doris (McBride) Lewis.

Mrs. Chaffinch graduated from Woodbridge High School, Class of 1988. She worked a lifelong career for Penn Fibre in Greenwood for 23 years. She was an active member of Christ Evangelist Church in Laurel where she loved to attend. In her spare time she liked to collect hummingbird memorabilia. She loved spending time with her family, her four cats and her husband, John, who was her soulmate.

Mrs. Chaffinch is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, John Randall Chaffinch; her brothers, Joe Lewis and his wife Bobbie of Seaford, and Tim Lewis and his wife Melissa of Seaford; her sister, Judy Murphy and her fiance Brian Murray of Greenwood; her two nieces, Amber Mae Wilson and Autumn Brooke Lewis; her three nephews, Joshua Lewis, Nicholas Murphy and Garrett Murphy; and her beloved cats, Salem, Whiskers, Rusty and Charlie.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m., at Christ Evangelistic Church, 9802 Camp Road, Laurel, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow the services at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford. When services conclude, light refreshments will be served at the church where services were held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Watson-Yates Funeral Home, 609 East King St., Seaford, DE 19973, to assist in defraying funeral expenses.
