On Wednesday, March 1, Big Oyster Brewery will host a five-course beer dinner featuring the creations of Chef William Somoza, currently of the Fins Ale House Berlin, Md. location, and future chef de cuisine of Big Oyster Brewery in Lewes.
The dinner is presented as a look ahead at what's to come when Big Oyster Brewery opens the doors at its Lewes facility this spring. Its highlights include incorporating beer into the menu items, varied meat offerings such as pork and beef, as well as harmonious presentation of fresh ingredients with a brewpub flair.
"This beer dinner is going to be a nice opportunity for William to showcase his talents and test some items for the future menu at Big Oyster Brewery and Restaurant in Lewes," notes Big Oyster Head Brewer Andrew Harton. "We have had some great Big Oyster Brewery dinners in collaboration with local restaurants, such as 99 Sea Level and Cantina Ultima, but this will be our first beer dinner at the brewery, and it will coincide with the re-release of two of our more popular beers, the Noir et Bleu, which is a Belgian-style Tripel brewed with blueberries and black tea, and Solar Power White Ale, brewed with fresh orange zest and coriander."
Big Oyster Brewery, under the umbrella of Fins Hospitality Group, currently operates a seven-barrel system out of Fins Ale House and Raw Bar on Coastal Highway in Rehoboth Beach. Once opened, the Lewes location will boast a 15-barrel system, driving distribution growth across Delaware and Maryland, as well as a 75-seat brewpub, inspired by the brewery teams' recent trips to Asheville, N.C. and Denver, Colo., two beer-centric cities. They'll be serving up a full menu, featuring in-house cured meats and build-your-own steam pots, with a focus on local ingredients and the consistent quality that is already a trademark of the Fins brand.
The cost for the beer dinner is $55 per person, with $5 of every ticket purchased donated to the Fort Miles Historical Association. The brewery will continue efforts in fundraising for the Fort Miles group throughout the month of April, donating a $1 for every barrel-aged beer sold at the Fins Coastal Highway location.
