Celebrating the 20-year sister relationship between the State of Delaware and Japan's Miyagi Prefecture, The Cultured Pearl in Rehoboth Beach sponsored the first Cherry Blossom Beach Festival. A portion of the proceeds from all of the events will benefit the Cape Henlopen High School, Dover High School and Miyagi Student Exchange programs.

Cultural exchange students from Miyagi Student Exchange programs stayed for one week in host families’ homes and attended Cape Henlopen High School and Dover High School. 

The Cherry Blossom Beach Festival ran from March 16-20, with cultural experiences and activities for adults and the entire family. On March 18 the festival highlight included crafts, games, candies, souvenirs, music and traditional Japanese street foods available throughout the Pearl Mall.
