Delaware Technical Community College held its 49th annual commencement at its Owens Campus in Georgetown May 16.
There were 690 academic awards conferred at the Owens Campus; 543 are associate degrees and eight of those are from the new associate of science program. There were 271 academic awards of excellence, and 63 students graduated summa cum laude and 15 students achieved a 4.0 grade point average. Sixty-five percent of the graduates were women and 30 percent of the graduates were minorities. The oldest graduate was 67 years old and the youngest was 19.
The keynote speaker was Major Gen. Carol A. Timmons, adjutant general of the Delaware National Guard. Timmons is also a graduate of Delaware Tech.
