Hospice 5K more circles than a box of Froot Loops

Turnout doubles in year two of race

The Milford police put the kibosh on runners racing down Airport Road Wednesday night, June 28, so the Delaware Hospice 5K on Patriots Way had more circles than a box of Froot Loops, but that didn’t deter 232 runners. That was double the number from last year getting after the 5K race that started at 6:30 p.m. under sunny skies with 62-degree temperatures.

Drew Harris, 18, of Harrington was the overall winner in 17:19 closely followed by Bryan Perry in 17:50. Completing the top five leaderboard were Francisco Puac in 18:21, Lance Skinner in 18:24 and Moiber Rivera in 18:43.

The women’s race was won by Emily Holstein, 17, in 20:58. She was followed by Sara Bushey, 22:46, Eileen Davis, 22:46, Hannah Minnich, 23:57 and Brittany Betts, 24:09.
