Judy Parker, Rehoboth shop owner

August 24, 2017

Judy Parker, 83, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, in Ellicott City, Md.

Judy grew up in the Washington, D.C. area, but in 1973 moved to Rehoboth Beach, where she opened Stitches, a needlepoint, knitting and crafts store at 102 N. First St. Inspired by the sand and surf, Judy began designing her own original line of T-shirts which became so popular that she opened Beach Graphics in the mid ‘70s. For 30 years under Judy's ownership, Beach Graphics became a Rehoboth Avenue staple, with tourists and locals among her loyal customers.

Judy loved sports and was an accomplished golfer. In 1955, she was Ladies Club Champion at Woodmont Country Club in Maryland. Judy grew up watching the likes of Sammy Baugh and her beloved Redskins at DC's Griffith Stadium. When baseball returned to Washington, she became an avid Nationals fan. If there was a sporting event on TV, Judy was watching it - sipping Diet Pepsi!

Judy sold Beach Graphics and retired 10 years ago, moving to Howard County, Md. to be closer to her family.

Judy is survived by her daughter Lori and her son Alex; four grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

A memorial service will be held at Lighthouse Senior Living in Ellicott City, 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 30.

Condolences can be sent to: Lighthouse Senior Living, 3100 N. Ridge Road, Ellicott City, MD 21043.
