Eric Mark Swain, retired mechanic

Eric Mark Swain, 59, of Lincoln passed away Friday, Jan. 2, 2018, surrounded by family at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford after fighting and losing a tough battle with pancreatic cancer.

Eric was born Nov. 5, 1958, to the late Josephine Holson Swain. He resided with his mother and maternal grandparents in the family home of Joseph F. and Mary A. Holson until adulthood.

Eric enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, working on engines and small motors, and collecting knives and tools. He enjoyed visits and good conversations with family and friends. He loved animals as he owned dogs, cats and birds throughout his life.

Prior to becoming disabled, Eric worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and did some farming.

He is preceded in death by his mother and maternal grandparents.

He is survived by his children Chris, Dana and Scott Swain; grandchildren Kaiden, Kaylee, Alyssa, Abigail and Mason:; and sister Jeanne Lawson.

Eric gifted his body to the University of Delaware for medical research. Services will be at the convenience of the family. Eric's final resting area will be with his mother at the Union Cemetery in Georgetown.

In lieu of flowers contributions, can be sent to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford DE.

Special thanks to family and friends who traveled and made each visit special for Eric. His final months were filled with loving, memorable visits filled with prayer, stories, laughter, tears and beautiful memories. He expressed his appreciation and was thankful to each of you.

Special thanks to the Delaware Hospice medical staff for providing good medical care, while maintaining his dignity and respect.
