Carrie Lingo will offer the commencement address at Cape High's graduation ceremony at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, at Legends Stadium.
Lingo led the 1995 Cape field hockey team to its first state championship since 1979, and later led her University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill team to two NCAA championships.
A member of the U.S. Field Hockey team from 2000 to 2012, she represented the nation in several World Cup tournaments, the Pan American games and the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
In 2002, Lingo was named to the ACC 50th Anniversary Team as one of the top 50 players in ACC history. She was named USA Field Hockey Player of the Year in 2009 and was inducted into the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
Lingo now has a real-estate team at her family-owned and operated real estate brokerage, Jack Lingo Realtor.
She sits on the boards of Delaware Wild Lands, Artisans' Bank, the Greater Lewes Foundation, the Rehoboth-Dewey Chamber of Commerce, DE Turf and the Youth Education Committee for Ducks Unlimited. She also serves as state treasurer for Ducks Unlimited. Lingo serves on the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Co. fundraising committee and is a volunteer coach for the Cape High field hockey team. She lives in Rehoboth with her husband, Murray Padgett, and sons Marsh and Tuck.
Parking information
Guests are encouraged to arrive early for graduation. Cape High staff members and Delaware State Police will assist with parking and directing traffic.
General parking at the high school is on a first-come, first-served basis. Once general parking is full, guests are to park at the bus lot 3/4 mile past the high school on the same side as the school. A shuttle bus will depart every 10 minutes to take families to the high school, but guests should anticipate a 15-minute wait.
Shuttle buses will begin returning families to their cars immediately after commencement.
