Jean Haas, dedicated to her family
Jean Haas, 87, of Long Neck, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1930, in Chester, Pa., daughter of the late Ellenzie and Bervania Shaw.
Mrs. Haas lived a life dedicated to her family and keeping a beautiful home. She was the true matriarch of the Haas family. Mrs. Haas was a talented artist, embroiderer and gardener. She enjoyed fishing with her husband and cooking her famous roast beef and spaetzles. When day was done, she could be often found around the table playing scrabble, rummy, Yahtzee or any board game in the house. Mrs. Haas’s fondest memories were the ones created with her family, especially her grandchildren who were the apples of her eyes. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and dear friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Haas was preceded in death by her loving husband of 36 years, John R. Haas in 1993; her five sisters, Evelyn, Bervania, Margaret, Emily and Betty; and her brothers, Ellenzie and Leroy. She is survived by her five children, Robert A. Haas and his wife Irene of Millsboro, Ronald J. Haas and his wife Susan of Millsboro, Jean Hooks and her husband Jay of Pennsville, Pa., Sherri A. Haas and her companion Jerry Beck of Chadds Ford, Pa., and Scott J. Haas and his wife Margaret of Milton; her six grandchildren: Marie, Rachel, Jessica, Ryan, Kate and Allison; her five great-grandchildren: Grace, Sara, Eleanor, Mason and Adeline, and a sixth and seventh on the way; and her sister, Eileen Coffroth and her husband Elwood of Peach Bottom, Pa.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will immediately follow services at Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
