American Legion Oak Orchard/Riverdale Post 28, Millsboro, held a Veterans Day ceremony Nov 11.
The American Legion Post 28 honor guard come to presents arms after firing their 21-gun salute.
The American Legion Unit 28 Colorettes place a wreath during the ceremony. Shown are Darlene Haus, left, and Rose Tominovich.
Rep. Ruth Briggs King, R-Georgetown, bows her head during the opening prayer.
Red Poppies were distributed around the room prior to the ceremony. After World War I, the poppy became a symbol of the sacrifice of all the lives in war, and it represents the hope that none have died in vain.
Veterans were asked to stand when the war they fought in was mentioned. One man stood when World War II was called; Oliver Moses, 95 years old, from the 101st Airborne Unit.
Post 28 Commander Mike Marcocci gives the opening remarks.
