Enjoying tasty bites, windmills and cathedrals while traveling the Rhine & Mosel rivers with the Gazette
Cape Gazette reader Carol Hall of Rehoboth Beach recently went on an exciting 2-week cruise on the Rhine & Mosel rivers. Starting in Brussels, Belgium where chocolate is the best, then traveling to Kinderdijk, Holland to see 19 windmills that are well maintained by families living in them. Holland is known for its great cheese, especially Gouda. Carol then headed to Germany for 5 days seeing Bonn, Boppard, Bernkastel and Speyer enjoying pretzels, bratwurst, wine and lovely castles. Next was Strasbourg Cathedral, one of the finest of Europe’s Gothic cathedrals. The cruise ended in Basel, Switzerland, where Carol is standing in front of the twelfth-century, red sandstone Munster Cathedral.
“The river cruises are the best,” said Carol. “Small ships, delicious food, fabulous service and beautiful places to see.”
