Wreaths Across America event held in Millsboro

December 23, 2018

Volunteers showed up early Dec. 15 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro to participate in the Wreaths Across America event. Observed annually on the third Saturday in December, National Wreaths Across America Day is a movement to cover all veterans’ grave markers with a Christmas wreath.

Remember. Honor. Teach. This is the mission of Wreaths Across America.

By coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and other veterans’ cemeteries around the country, Wreaths Across America strives to remember fallen heroes, honor those who serve and teach children about the sacrifices made by veterans and their families to preserve our county’s freedom.

Delaware Veterans Cemetary has 4,000 veterans’ graves, with 1,359 wreaths delivered to the ceremony. Hundreds of individuals showed up on the wet morning to help lay wreaths on the graves.
