Cespedes scores in overtime as Cape stuns Indian River 3-2

October 2, 2011

Max Euler had a first-half goal for the Cape soccer team that kept the Vikings close to Indian River as they trailed 2-1 at halftime Oct. 1.

“Indian River had guys standing alone in front of our goal the entire first half and they put two in the net, ” said Coach Gary Montalto. “They have a lot of talented players and they're very aggressive.  I challenged the boys at halftime to play the way they've been coached this season. They responded well and played a great second half. I am so proud of them.”

David Cespedes scored the tying goal in the second half and the game winner two minutes into overtime on an assist from Michael Harmon as Cape remained undefeated with a record of 5-0-1.

The Vikings will host St. Thomas More on Tuesday, Oct. 4 and Milford on Wednesday, Oct. 6. Varsity action begins at 7 p.m.
