Kimberly Jean Miller, nursing student
Kimberly “Kim” Jean Miller, 28, of Dagsboro, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011 at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Milford Wednesday, April 6, 1983, to Gloria and Larry Coverdale of Milford.
Kim was a 2001 graduate of Sussex Technical High School. She gave birth to her son Jan. 9, 2002. She was married to Jeffery Miller July 7, 2007, in Greenwood. Kim was pursuing a career in nursing through Delaware Technical & Community College and had been accepted to Beebe School of Nursing.
Kim was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer in May 2010 and over the past 16 months battled through chemotherapy treatment, radiation, and the difficult side effects of her treatment. Her fighting spirit, positive outlook, and faith in the Lord never wavered in the face of such difficulty. She was truly a hero.
Kim was a great mother to her son and centered her life on him. She was dedicated to his education and his faith. She was a member of Bayshore Community Church where she continued to develop her faith and love for the Lord. Through her baptism and fight with cancer, Kim touched the hearts of all that knew her and even those who did not.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jim and Emma Coverdale and Doris and Marvin Lightcap, and her uncle, Nick Coverdale. She is survived by her husband, Jeffery Miller, her son Bryan Miller, her parents Gloria and Larry Coverdale, her sister Lisa Coverdale and brother Larry Coverdale, aunts and uncles, Jim and Brenda Coverdale, Jig and Linda Coverdale, Kathy and Marvin Lightcap, and Sharon Wootten, and numerous cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Bayshore Community Church, 36759 Millsboro Highway, Millsboro. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Kimberly Miller Fund, WSFS Bank, 38394 DuPont Blvd. Unit 2, Selbyville, DE 19975, a trust set up for her son’s care and education, or Delaware Hospice at 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963, where Kim received the best of care in her final days.
