Preston Automotive donates vehicle to Sussex Tech Adult Ed

April 28, 2019

The Sussex Technical School District's Adult Division recently received a vehicle donation from Boulevard Ford Lewes, a division of the Preston Automotive Group, to help with its automotive technician apprenticeship program.

"This gift will give our trainees a new tool to practice their skills and get firsthand experience in this dynamic, ever-expanding field," said Lynn Danner, Sussex Tech industrial training coordinator. "We greatly appreciate the generosity of Boulevard and Preston for their support and continued partnership with Sussex Tech."

The Saturn L Series vehicle is being put to work in the Sussex Tech Adult Education Divison’s Automotive Technician Specialist apprenticeship program. The curriculum includes brakes, suspension and steering, engine repair and electrical/electronic systems. The four-semester program is designed to prepare students for four ASE exams and advancement to a C level. The apprenticeship program combines daily hands-on training through a sponsoring employer with classroom training through Sussex Tech.

Other apprenticeship classes include carpentry, child care, electrical, HVACR, marine mechanics, plumbing, and welding. For more information, interested students can call 302-856-9035. New student orientations begin Monday, Aug. 19.
