Keep your wallet full and still eat well

You need a program to keep up with all the changes around here! Fortunately, The Rehoboth Foodie pledges every waking moment to keeping Beach Paper readers on the leading edge. So let’s get down to business.

We at the beach have an impressive number of wallet-friendly places that wow us with their menus. Pretty good casual sit-down dining can be had Panera Bread with its very own drive through. Another semi-fast food joint that always seems to have a line is Chipotle Mexican Grill in Tanger Seaside. Get the chicken burrito with black beans, guac, the white rice, cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo and some of that spicy red sauce. You won’t need to eat again for a while.

The Cameron Brothers’ Grandpa(MAC) spots on Baltimore Avenue and on Coastal Highway are all about mac ‘n’ cheese. (The Delmarva Dog is the order of the day.) On Rehoboth Avenue, Semra’s Mediterranean Grill cranks out house-made gyros, kabobs and Semra’s grandma’s own Turkish dishes. Across The Avenue, Modern Mixture has a ton of new menu items. Just hope that Leo is still whippin’ up those frozen sangrias! And don’t forget Frank & Louie’s Italian Specialties over at 2nd and Baltimore! Each and every Italian sub comes with a big smile from one of the friendly Bascio boys. The holy grail at Frank & Louie’s is the Ciabatta hero. A hero is another word for “sub” or “hoagie” or “grinder.”  (NOTE: These are not synonyms! The names are steeped in regional differences and mean different things in different parts of the country. Get it wrong and you could end up sleepin’ wit’ da fishes. Capiche?)

On S. First, Pete Borsari’s The Pond has kicked up the menu with a long list of house-made goodies … including awesome ribs! This casual neighborhood pub with live entertainment now has even more to offer. Across The Avenue, Conch Island Key West Bar & Grill has all sorts of tasty menu choices for music lovers! The conch fritters and chowder are amazing, along with that Blue Heaven Burger. An exceptionally friendly staff is the icing on the cake.

Out on The Highway, there’s always good eats at the Taco Reho truck. La Vida Hospitality’s rolling eatery adjacent to Big Chill Surf Cantina dishes up the Danger Dog (Like dogs? Just get it!) and a lineup of tacos to please everyone. The Chicken Tinga taco and the Carne Fries are must-gets. And you’ll have money left over! Two VERY hidden gems include Cabañas Salvadorean joint (oh, the pupusas!) and Beaches Seafood Market & Restaurant up toward Lewes. Don Alan’s steamed-to-order hardshells are exceptional and surprisingly affordable.
