John Edward Bare Jr., disabled veteran
John Edward Bare Jr., 59, of Frankford passed away surrounded by his loving family Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.
He was born in Lewes Dec. 9, 1959, son of John Edward Bare Sr. and Phyllis (Smith) Bare. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
John became disabled as a result of his service to his country, but was always proud of his time in the service and becoming a member of the American Legion Post 24 in Dagsboro. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching TV, playing chess, collecting coins, playing rummy, doing architectural drawings, and going out to eat with his family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his father, John Edward Bare Sr. He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Bare of Frankford; a brother, Lloyd Bare and his wife Jody of Frankford; three nephews, Tyler, Taylor and Corey Bare; two nieces, Payton Bare and Molly Beattie; and two great-nephews, Jaxson and Remi Bare.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 13, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, where friends and family may call after noon. Interment will follow at Bethesda Church Cemetery in Laurel.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in John’s name to the Disabled American Veterans.
