Joey Hawley, 31, from Irwin, Pa., spent his vacation at the beach winning a pair of Seashore Striders 5K races. Hawley dusted the field like a Chorman biplane Sunday morning in Lewes, winning the Cannonball 5K in 17:37. Three days earlier, Hawley won the Run, White and Blue 5K in 17:12.
“We have a newborn and a 2-year-old who likes to get up early,” Hawley said after the Cannonball run. “I’m glad I didn’t have to run any faster.”
Susan Dunn was the overall women’s champion for the Cannonball 5K in 22:17. Masters champions were Dan Matta in 22:58 and Jackie Quigley in 23:15.
