Kidz Clozet moves to Lewes

A high-end resale shop for children’s clothing and toys has opened its doors at a new location in the Cape Region.  Kidz Clozet, formerly of Milton, celebrated its grand opening in Lewes, Oct. 8.  “It seems to be doing awesome so far,” said owner Jamie Pinkstaff.

There are two dressing rooms, a play room and a television station to entertain kids while parents are shopping.

The store, in Villages of Five Points, is clean and full of light.  The hardwood floors and freshly painted walls are lined with neatly organized racks of name-brand clothing in children’s sizes 0 to 14.  Kidz Clozet also sells children’s shoes, size 0 to 3, fashionable maternity clothes, bags, toys, movies, books and baby accessories.

“It’s an awesome concept because kids grow out of their clothes so fast,” Pinkstaff said.  Gently used maternity clothing ranges from $5 to $15; gently used kids clothing ranges from $2.50 to $8.  Items that are new with tags may be priced higher, but the items are always sold for less than half the original retail price.  Pinkstaff said she keeps prices lower than outlet stores in Rehoboth Beach.

Born and raised in Dover, Pinkstaff said she moved to the Cape Region 12 years ago.  She now lives in Lincoln and is a mother of four children, ages 4 to 14. Nearly two years ago, Pinkstaff opened Kidz Clozet in Milton.  “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” she said.

She said she enjoyed Milton, and she considered her business a success.  But Pinkstaff said she is happy to have more foot traffic and more parking at her new retail space.  “This center just seemed to have everything we need,” she said.

For customers who would like to sell to Kidz Clozet, Pinkstaff recommends calling the store ahead of time, and bringing items to the store before noon.  She sets a limit of two tubs of clothing per customer per visit, to avoid clutter.  “In Milton, people would bring me truckloads,” she said.

Pinkstaff said she does not take donations.  “I would prefer to pay you for your stuff,” she said.  The store takes name-brand items only, new or gently used, and Pinkstaff gives cash or store credit in return.

Kidz Clozet is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday; and closed Sunday.  For more information, call Kidz Clozet at 302-703-2334.
