Donald Alan Wagner Jr., 2 Dips Ice Cream founder

Donald Alan Wagner Jr., 63, of Milton passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. He was born Jan. 13, 1956, in Delaware County, Pa., son of the late Donald Alan Wagner Sr. and Christine (Hansen) Wagner.

Don grew up in Secane, Pa., where he graduated from Ridley High School. He received his associate degree from Delaware County Community College. In his youth, he had fond memories as an Eagle Scout, Troop 355. Following his graduation from college, Mr. Wagner started a lifelong, 45-year career at R.E. Michel Company, where he was a regional manager.

Mr. Wagner founded 2 Dips Ice Cream on Savannah Road in Lewes, where he proudly worked alongside his family for the past 10 years. His favorite part of being at 2 Dips was socializing and getting to know all of the frequent customers that soon became family to him. He found joy and passion in cars and ice cream. In his free time, he could often be found finding another deal on a car or a freezer. Above all, he loved his time spent with his family and friends. Some of the proudest moments of his life were being a father and Gramps.

During Don’s life he benefited from donations from Living Legacy. In his passing, he will continue to help others and give back, as he became a donor to the organization.

Mr. Wagner is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lora L. Wagner of Milton; his daughters: Jan Turansky and her husband JP of Milton, and Chelsey Wharton and her husband Ryan of Millsboro; his brother, Carl Wagner and his wife Mandy of Lewes; his grandchildren, Jaxon and Julianna; his granddaughter on the way, Ellison; his husky, Kona; and his beloved 2 Dips Family.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, at 11:30 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.

Donations can also be made directly to the “We Walk for Wiggles” team for the 2020 National Kidney Foundation Walk that will be held in April.
