Sussex Tech design students sweep two poster contests

December 27, 2019

Seven Sussex Technical High School digital publishing students showed they are tops in the state by sweeping two poster contests recently, capturing first, second and third places in both competitions in the high school computer-aided design categories.

The winners of the county division of the 2019 Conservation Poster contest, sponsored by the Sussex Conservation District with a theme of Life in the Soil: Dig Deeper, were first place, senior Sobe Okoye of Millsboro; second place, senior Lydia Hall of Lincoln; and third place, senior Ally Collier of Milford.

The winners of the state 2019 Delaware Disability History and Awareness Poster Contest, from the Governor’s Advisory Council for Exceptional Citizens with a theme of Inclusion is Within Everyone’s Ability – We Are All ABLE, were first place, junior Nina Fike of Dagsboro; second place, junior Logan Farro of Georgetown; and tied for third place, juniors Emily Pusey and Olivia Bragg, both of Laurel.

Sussex Tech’s digital publishing and design career-technical area prepares students to enter the graphic design industry, with a focus on both design and production. Students learn design principles and practices, production of publication-quality documents, bindery and finishing techniques, and web page design skills. Potential career paths include graphic designer, illustrator, photo editor, production artist and art director.
