The third-quarter wheel fell off a four-quarter wagon Feb. 1 at Cape’s Big House, as visiting North Caroline, coached by Steve Perry, defeated Cape Henlopen 73-64.
The Vikings, featuring more lineups than “Law and Order,” dropped to 5-8 on the season. They next play at 14-1 Dover Tuesday, Feb. 4.
The Vikings led 36-35 at halftime. Behind inside power player Kendron Wayman and point guard Montreyse Deshields, North Caroline ran a 20-10 crooked number at Cape in the third period and kept it there to win by nine points.
Cape got another great game from Kris Rushin with 25 points along with 19 from J-Roc Burton. Nate Sivels had his most productive game with nine points.
Wayman, a 6-foot-4 rugged yet smooth Division I football defensive end heading to Wake Forest in the fall, had 26 points, while Deshields contributed 16.
