Joseph M. Weir Sr., enjoyed boating

Joseph M. Weir Sr. passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, surrounded by his loving family at Riddle Hospital, Media, Pa. Joe was born Sept. 13, 1950, in Chichester, Pa., son of the late Francis and Veronica (Vroebel) Weir. 

Joe worked for General Motors in New Jersey for some 10 years until relocating to Bear with his family in 1985. In Delaware, Joe worked for various employers from Wilmington to Lewes. Joe always enjoyed being on the Indian River Bay boating, fishing and crabbing.  He also loved a good game of Pinochle. 

Joe is survived by his three children, Michele Hanson of Ocean View, Jessica Weir of Lewes and Joseph M. Weir Jr. of Milton. In addition, he is survived by his sister Kathy (Paul) Getz of Linwood, Pa.; his brother Frank (Diane) Weir of Oak Orchard; his nieces and nephews, Chrissie Getz, Cindy Weir Petrone and Paul Getz Jr.; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Weir.

At Joe's request, there will be no services. Joe's children will schedule a Mass at St. Jude the Apostle Church in Lewes at a later date.
