George G. Macintire, devoted husband and father
George G. Macintire, 82, of Lewes, passed away peacefully surrounded by angels Saturday, April 4, 2020.
G.G., as he was affectionately known by his friends, was passionate about three things in his life: his family, his love of Christ and singing.
George was born June 25, 1937, in Beebe Hospital. He was the son of the late E. Gould Macintire and Helena Coverdale Macintire. He was a graduate of St. Andrew’s School in Middletown before being apprenticed as a River Pilot for the Bay & River Delaware (1960-2002.) George served on the board of directors as secretary/treasurer for many years there.
After his retirement, G.G. was active in Lewes Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir and serving on the church Session, and cemetery and endowment committees. He always loved to sing and was a member and past president of the Southern Delaware Nautical Sounds Chorus.
George’s family was always his first love. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 58 years, Pat Macintire; his daughters Cordelia Winton and husband Graham, Meredith Palmer and fiancé Walter Morris, and Jennifer Zerby and husband Jeffrey; and his three grandchildren of whom he was extremely proud: Hannah and Yostie Palmer, and Vaughn Winton. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law, David Yost and his wife Jean; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends, including his barbershop quartet buddies and his Eagles football-watching buddy.
Due to the COVID-19 virus, a celebration of life will be held at a later date at Lewes Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, please remember G.G. by making a donation to Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958.
Arrangements made by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes.
