Best-selling author to visit local independent bookstores June 20-21
A much-needed boost is coming to Sussex County’s two independent bookstores. This Father’s Day weekend, New York Times best-selling author Elin Hilderbrand will make appearances at Bethany Beach Books and Browseabout Books to sign her latest book, “28 Summers.”
"When I spoke with Elin, she was adamant that she would visit Delaware in person! She said our shops were like family to her, and she was certain we would have safe and fabulous events," said Susan Kehoe, managing partner of Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach.
Jackie Inman-Burns, owner of Bethany Beach Books, was equally enthusiastic. “We are so thrilled and honored that the Queen of Beach Reads chose our Delaware beaches for her tour this summer!”
Hilderbrand will be at Bethany Beach Books Saturday, June 20, for a safe, social distance signing. The event begins at 5 p.m. and the store will be closed to the public for the duration. Tickets are required for this event and cost $50; each ticket purchase includes a copy of “28 Summers” and a $20 gift certificate to the store. Ticket holders will have a chance to shop, and have their books signed and personalized by Hilderbrand. Anyone unable to attend the event can purchase a signed copy of the book at Bethany Beach Books. For more information, go to www.bethanybeachbooks.com or call the store at 302-539-2522.
Browseabout Books will close to the general public at 6 p.m., Sunday, June 21, for its exclusive event with Hilderbrand. Attendees will be divided into two groups, one for 6 p.m. and one for 7 p.m. All will have the opportunity to have their books personalized and shop in the store. Tickets are required. For $50, attendees will get a copy of “28 Summers,” a $15 store gift certificate, and Browseabout’s 2020 summer tote bag. The store has put safety measures in place to ensure social distancing.
