Kathryn Louise ‘Kitty’ Oliver, had heart of gold

Kathryn Louise “Kitty” Oliver, 78,  of Georgetown was born May 16, 1942, to the late Lawrence and Theda Spencer Williams in Belvedere. Kathryn departed this life Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, surrounded by her loved ones at home. Kathryn obtained and maintained her education through the Wilmington Public School system. 

Kathryn was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Yvonne Blue and Theda Grasty; and her husband of 25 years, Charlie Oliver. Kathryn, originally from Wilmington, retired from St. Francis Hospital. She then relocated to Georgetown in 1998, retiring for a second time from Harrington Raceway and Casino. Her final and most rewarding employment was with Telamon as a foster grandmother.

Kathryn leaves behind a loving extended family. She is survived by her six children: Gertrude “Trudy” Murray (Calvin), Eileen Williams, Dwayne Johnson, Terry Hagans, Donald “Donnie” Hagans (Diane) and Roberta “Missy” Clark; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Kathryn loved the many surprise and planned visits from her family. Connecting with family and friends on Facebook and her online games (Pogo) was one of her many passions. Kathryn had a heart of gold for all. 

Kathryn, Kitty, Mom, Mommy, Aunt Kitty, Grandmom, Grandmom Kathryn, Sister Kitty and GiGi, became a member of Restoration Worship Center in Georgetown in 2003 where she was consecrated as The Mother of the Church. 

A Going Home Celebration will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 16, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown.  The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. for visitation.  

Interment will be held privately. All attending any aspect of the visitation or celebration, must wear a mask and adhere to social distancing and gathering numbers guidelines set forth by the governor.
