The Cape Henlopen High School field hockey team won the Division I state championship Dec. 12, with a 3-0 win over Polytech at Dover High School. It’s the Vikings’ fourth straight title and ninth in 10 years.
Junior Sam Connors scored the first two goals for Cape, and Reagan Ciabattoni added an insurance goal.
Cape finished with a 13-1 record, with its only loss coming to Division II state champion Delmar.
The Wildcats defeated Caravel Academy 4-1 earlier in the day Dec. 12 to win their fifth straight state title. Delmar finished the season with a perfect record of 15-0.
