The Milton Garden Club will be a vendor at the new Tour 684 event to be held from 3 to 7 p.m., the first Friday of every month from May through October.
Club members will be at two locations each month. The club will be selling some perennials, but the main focus will be to publicize club activities and sell 50/50 raffle tickets as a fundraiser. The tickets are $1 each or six for $5, and the winning ticket will be drawn at during Hollyfest, at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 11. During the August and September events, the club will also be selling the 2021 Milton Garden Tour tickets.
For Friday, May 7, the locations are Irish Eyes in downtown Milton and Frantic Frets Music Store and Antiques Shop, Fuel Automotive and Lockwood Designs at 26370 Broadkill Road. Plants will not be available at the Irish Eyes location.
Mary Ellen King, Milton Garden Club president, said, "The Milton Garden Club is delighted to be a part of the Tour 684 event. Not only will the club be selling plants and 50/50 raffle tickets, but the event will allow us to interact with the community and give us the opportunity to meet new club members. We are always looking for new gardeners to join our group – individuals who are energetic, fun, and lovers of all things floral and green. In addition, we will be promoting some of our other events such as our plant sale during the Horseshoe Crab Festival and our annual garden tour. We are very proud of our traditions, our membership and our mission to beautify Milton. It is only through fundraising events such as Tour 684 and the generous contributions of the Milton community that we are able to continue planting flowers along the streets, walkways and gardens in Milton. Our town sees a rainbow of colors from spring to fall thanks to the Milton Garden Club and its membership who keep the rainbow shining.”
Kathryn Greig, a longtime club member and a local antique dealer, will be a vendor next to the garden club with some items of her own to sell. Kathryn's Treasures will offer plants from her garden, porch/patio pots designed by Greig, garden accessories, and a hodgepodge of antiques and collectibles.
"When Mary Knight of Frantic Frets mentioned this event to me, I jumped at the chance to be a part of it," said Greig. "I no longer exhibit at local antique shows, but I have quite a bit of merchandise that I'd like to pass on to a new owner. I love the vintage stuff, so I refer to it as treasures, but I'm sure many people see it as junk."
Tour 684 dates are May 7, June 4, July 2, Aug. 6, Sept. 3, and Oct. 1. In the event of rain, the dates will be changed to the second Friday of each month. Food and music will be available at Frantic Frets, so bring a chair, and come out and shop, grab a bite to eat and enjoy the afternoon.
