New vegan cookbook talk and demo set June 2

May 25, 2021

The Lewes Public Library’s Cooks & Books program will welcome plant-based nutrition expert Lisa Dawn Angerame for a live, online discussion of her new book “The Vegan ABCs Cookbook” at 5 p.m., Wednesday, June 2, in partnership with Browseabout Books.

Angerame’s book details 26 of the most important ingredients in vegan cooking, with each chapter devoted to a different vegan staple. Starting with aquafaba, beets, and coconut milk, readers will make their way to XO sauce, yogurt and zucchini in this indispensable guide. Whether new to vegan cooking or looking to deepen an understanding of plant-based ingredients, it is a perfect resource for anyone who wants to make exciting, nutritious vegan meals.

The event will be moderated by Denise Clemons, Cape Gazette food columnist and author of “A Culinary History of Southern Delaware,” and will feature a live cooking demo.

“The author’s enthusiasm and creativity take center stage in this cookbook focused on healthy and delicious plant-based eating,” said Clemons. “Her trip through the alphabet includes enticing photographs and will inspire readers to try new ingredients. I’m looking forward to watching her demo as she introduces her new book.”

Angerame is the author of “Wait, That’s Vegan?!” and the founder of the blog Lisa’s Project: Vegan. She holds a certificate in plant-based nutrition from eCornell and earned the title of certified plant-based professional from Rouxbe Online Culinary School.

The discussion is free to the public. Registration is required. To sign up, go to lewes.lib.de.us and visit the Virtual Programs for Adults page.

Participants also are encouraged to support the author by purchasing a copy of the book from local independent bookstore Browseabout Books. Each copy purchased comes with an archival bookplate signed by the author. Orders may be placed online at browseaboutbooks.com, by calling the store at 302-226-2665, or in person at 133 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach.
