A fire Sept. 26 caused $50,000 in damage to a home in the Village of Five Points.

Lewes Fire Department responded to the fire at 8:30 a.m. and found smoke and flames coming from the townhouse, officials said. Using three aerial trucks, firefighters from Milton and Rehoboth joined Lewes firefighters to extinguish the blaze at 17208 Chatham St., in the community’s townhome section.

The fire was extinguished in about 45 minutes. An occupant escaped the fire without injury, and no one else was injured, said Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal John Galaska.

Damage is estimated at $50,000, Galaska said. The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation, he said.
