Baritone Andrew Garland and pianist Rachelle Jonck to perform Nov. 6
Coastal Concerts will present celebrated American baritone Andrew Garland accompanied by accomplished South African pianist Rachelle Jonck at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6, at Bethel United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Lewes.
The program, The Quest - Don Quixote and Other Wanderers, will feature the words and music of Ralph Vaughan Williams, Robert Louis Stevenson, Franz Schubert, Maurice Ravel and Goethe, among others. The concert will be preceded at 6:30 p.m. by a presentation of Performance Insights by Lani Spahr, highlighting some of the detail and nuance of the music.
Garland is best known for his highly communicative style, equally at home in opera, concert and recital. He brings to each a powerful voice and an extremely sensitive delivery.
Warren Jones, originally scheduled to appear with Andrew Garland, will not be performing. In his place will be Rachelle Jonck. Born and musically bred in South Africa, Jonck has developed into a triple threat in the world of music: voice coach, concert pianist and accompanist, as well as orchestra conductor. Before moving to New York City in 1998, she was awarded the Nederburg Opera Prize, her native country’s premier opera award. Her private coaching studio in New York City includes established professionals whose careers take them to the grand opera houses of the world and younger singers still on the verge of a professional career.
Coastal Concerts’ return to live performance is being conducted with adherence to current COVID-19 protocols, which include limited and spaced seating. There will be a limited number of single tickets available on the Coastal Concerts website at 12 p.m., Friday, Nov. 5. No tickets will be available at the door.
