VFW Post 7447 Rehoboth honors veterans at Bandstand ceremony
Annual event recognizes contributions of all military service members and their families

VFW Post 7447 Rehoboth Beach hosted its annual Veterans Day ceremony Nov. 11 at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand. Pleasant weather brought a strong crowd of attendees who were happy to participate in honoring the country’s veterans and the families who support them.
William Berry was an explosives detection K9 handler in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, during his time in the military. It took a while, but he was allowed to adopt his detection dog Blecky.

Memorial wreaths were placed by VFW Post 7447, American Legion Post 5, Civil Air Patrol, Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540, the Caesar Rodney Chapter of the Delaware Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Col. David Hall Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

There were a number of elected officials in attendance including (l-r) State Auditor Kathy McGuiness; Speaker of the House Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf, D-Rehoboth; Sen. Ernie Lopez, R-Lewes; Rehoboth Beach Mayor Stan Mills; and Rehoboth Beach Commissioner Susan Gay.
