Patricia N. Beach, devout Catholic

November 23, 2021

Patricia N. Beach, 85, of Lewes passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born June 14, 1936, in Queens, N.Y., daughter of the late Frederick and Dorothy McGowan Schilling.

Patricia and her husband have been residents of Delaware for the past 40 years.  She received her formal education at Public School # 147 and Andrew Jackson High School in Queens.

A devoted Catholic her entire life, she was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes.

She was very active and civic-minded, having served with the homeowner’s association of Plantations East where she also enjoyed playing Bunco with her friends. Also, as an avid bowler she could be found enjoying a game of tenpins with her Del Vets Ladies Bowling Team in Wilmington, or participating through her affiliation as a life member of the Trail Blazers Camp in New York State. Working with ceramics, following the Philadelphia Flyers, Eagles and the Phillies, as well as any of the Olympics competitions helped to fill the in-between times.  However, her devotion to being a wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother throughout her life brought more happiness than anyone could ask for.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Everett J. Beach; four children, Kenneth Beach (Cindy) of Wilmington, Jeanne McCloskey (Kevin) of Rock Hall, Md., Richard Beach (Ginny) of Greenville, S.C., and Edward Beach (Jason) of Oakland Park, Fla.; six grandchildren, Jamie McCloskey (Erin), Lindsay Beach, Stephen McCloskey, Ryan Beach, Cameron Beach and Nicholas Beach; and two great-grandchildren, Madison McCloskey and Landon McCloskey.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 27, at 12:30 p.m., at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, with burial following at the Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes. A visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 26, from 7 to 9 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing are required by all persons attending or participating in any aspect of the services.

Memorial contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713.
